So Rewarding Yet So Painful

Of a Monday night I spend 2 hours volunteering at a youthful club for teens with Aspergers. I love this and I couldn’t wish to do anything better. But it’s also so hard as well. Every night we learn about the injustices these teens face. Some is by the teens on the playground by sometimes it’s teachers and schools. It breaks my heart to see how some of these amazing people are treated. Over the years there has been equality for all races, equality for women. Yet in the society we live in these teens are treated like second class citizens. So while its rewarding to volunteer here it’s also so painful.

  1. What you are doing by speaking about what it is like living with Asperger’s is a great start. Most of society is clueless that just because someone is different, with different life challenges, they don’t see the person standing in front of them. It is great that you are getting out the word, that just because you have Asperger’s, it doesn’t mean that you don’t have feelings that get hurt. You want the same things as any other person. Thank you for sharing your story.
