In 1 hour it will turn midnight where I live and so 2014 will start. For me a New Year will signify a new beginning and I always try to change my life for the better by the next New Year’s Eve. Tonight I’m over at a relatives house and we will be playing card games until we get ready for the countdown. I wish you a happy new year and I hope that 2014 will be an amazing year for you all.
I’m setting myself five new year resolutions that i plan to have done by the end of 2014.
1) be happy about myself
2) to loose some weight
3) to keep a diary for a full year
4) to be in university
5) to raise £100 for charity
So yesterday was my first Christmas being an 18-year-old so the first Christmas were I could legally drink. My family celebrated this by taking me out for a few drinks at the pub. Combine that with an amazing but massive feast as now left me with a splitting head feeling like I wanna throw up but also bloated. On the plus side I’ve got a day of catching up on Christmas TV my goal is to try and make it through an episode of Downton Abbey without having to run to the toilet. Hope you all enjoyed your Christmas has I enjoyed mine.
To everyone who reads this I wish you all a Merry Christmas. For those who read this and don’t celebrate christmas Merry 25th of December. Sorry this is short and to the point but I couldn’t think of any other way to put it 🙂
So tonight today is Christmas Eve and tonight I’ll be gathered round playing games with my family in my new Christmas PJ’s, listening to Christmas music in the background. Because of this tradition I thought I’d show you my list of my top 10 Christmas songs
Fairy Tale of New York by The Pogues & Kristy McColl
Christmas Song by Pheobe Buffay
Power of Love by Gabrielle Aplin
I know what you’re thinking that this song as not one mention of Christmas or is Christmassy. But this song was used as an advert for a major shopping chain in the UK last year so it’s often associated with that. Plus the meaning of Christmas is love.
Merry Christmas Everyone by Shakin Stevens
Merry Xmas Everybody by Slade
I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday by Wizzard
Somewhere In My Memory by John Williams
Do They Know It’s Christmas Time by Band Aid
All I Want For Christmas Is You by Mariah Carey
Step Into Christmas by Elton John
I hope you liked listening to my favourite songs and what is your all time favourite Christmas Song?
I have spent so many hours writing this post. Everytime I write something I just delete it as it doesn’t seem perfect.
I assume most people here will be doing there last preparations for Christmas, probably excited for Christmas in two days. But for us today is a horrible reminder of what is not here. Today is the 25th anniversary of the death of my dad’s mum, my nanna. Some of you may realise through reading my blog that I’m 18 thus never meeting my nanna. But the truth is I miss her so much. People say you can never love someone you’ve never met, but that’s completely wrong. I have grown up hearing the stories about my nanna and her love for her grandchildren.
I remember awhile back when I was walking round the library, I saw a baby name book. I couldn’t help myself but to look up the names of everyone I knew and took pictures to show my family. One name I found and took a picture of was my nana’s name. It means Gift From God. A meaning my family have found fitting as she truly was a gift from God.
I love and miss you nana. Your always in my heart ❤
Today we did the annual Christmas shop. This is were we go as a family to a local supermarket and get everything we need, food wise, for Christmas. This is a massive shop as not only do we get shopping for Christmas but we cover over a week.
This shopping trip normally goes pretty much the same. We get two trolleys, my mum and dad get stressed, my sister does her impression of turkey and I throw things I like in the trolley. my dad always says at the beginning that we can get treat food as its Christmas, it’s just he gets a few surprises at the checkout. I bet today he didn’t expect 5 tubs of Ben and Gerry’s (in my defense normally they are a rip off but they were half price today and they are AMAZING).
I do love the big Christmas shop as it means Christmas is getting close. But I can’t believe how hectic it get’s. It still amazes me every time we go. We have to get there at 8:30 and I’ve even at that hour I’ve never seen it that busy.
To understand this post your probably going to have to know a bit about applying for university in the UK so I’m going to give a brief description. You fill out this form on UCAS website. Then you add a personal statement (which is unbelievably hard) and get a reference of a teacher then you pick up to 5 choices of where you want to go or what course. Then UCAS will send it off to the your choices. You’ll then get either conditional offers or get rejected (conditional means if you get the right grades then you can get in).
I sent off 4 choices and today I got my first offer!!! It was my second choice. I really like this university it’s the course I want, it’s in the same city I live and they help people with Asperger’s. I couldn’t believe it when I saw it and I hope I get more. But if not I’ve still got my second choice.
I even said to one of my tutors that my christmas wish was to get an offer. So my Christmas wish has come true 3 days early. Well Done Santa!
